The Challenge: Creating a Public Visual Experience to Match a Landmark Celebration
Golden Gate Park’s 150th Anniversary required a comprehensive event identity that could both honor the park’s history and energize tens of thousands of visitors. With the core branding already established, the San Francisco Parks Alliance and their event agency needed a design partner who could translate and expand that identity into a cohesive visual experience across banners, maps, wayfinding, and large-scale signage.
The Approach
I was brought on to collaborate closely with the event agency and creative director to shape and execute a park-wide visual experience. My role began with the creation of a high-impact visual pitch deck that showcased proposed touchpoints and activations. From there, I expanded the creative direction into real-world deliverables, balancing aesthetics with clarity and production feasibility.
The Execution
Large-Scale Signage: Designed banner flags and key signage that honored the park’s legacy while introducing the Celebration Brand’s bold visual language.
Wayfinding Towers: Created 4-sided tower structures to guide guests across the park, doubling as sponsor recognition assets.
Illustrated Map: Developed a detailed, illustrated navigation map to help attendees explore the sprawling layout.
Production-Ready Assets: Supplied fully prepared print files and specifications for every piece, ensuring smooth execution from print to installation.
This project brought together conceptual design thinking, collaboration, production expertise, and a love for creating public visual experiences that inform, inspire, and celebrate community.
